Spring Chicken Coop

Yes...this is how we spent our spring break.....driving a chicken coop hundreds of miles to Mississippi. I know....I thought that too....but I really went to visit my 2 month old grandson! What a fun trip !! I prayed the entire first day from 6:00 A.M. until we arrived around 4:40 P.M. for the coop to stay inside the open air trailer it was on.  We did have a tie strap on....but the wind at 65-70 miles an hour can be quite strong.....Thank you LORD we made it safely!

It just took an extra tank of gas to get it from FL to Hattiesburg, MS. We looked like a caravan of.......

Four days later.....looks like the Taj Mahal for chickens.....for sure.....

These ladies are happy they have a roof over their head......
My son starts the corn seeds inside the chicken eggs.......

He breaks the bottom of the shell and transplants the corn outside after the last frost....
I hope he brings me some corn this summer.......

And GRAM had a GRAND time with the GRANDSON!!!  He is all smiles with his first Easter basket from his other Grand....GiGi....good job picking out the masculine basket!
Happy Easter weekend folks!

Springtime in Paris

Bonjour Peeps! Yes.....first day of spring....and thinking AGAIN about my favorite spot for viewing all the blooms in Paris.....  and the statues.....

Below: from the flower market near Notre Dame.....

All the colors of Paris look more vibrant....

Check out the shooting beam from the flame of the French Statue of Liberty.....

Below: blooms near the Eiffel Tower....park across the river....

Below: a view of the Seine River....

Below: St. Chappell.....they display the CROWN of THORNS worn by Jesus on Good Friday..........This church was built for that purpose....but now I think the display is in Notre Dame......

There is nothing like Paris in the Spring!  Forget San Francisco....I left my heart in Paris....

Book Page Wreath

I know....book page wreaths have been around the best of blogs for....a while, but my daughter and I just decided to make one last night. I said ,   "what are you crazy...it's Friday night and I am pooped sure dear...we can make one."  Lindsay cut the circle base while I searched in my book stash for one I could part with without tears....lol. ( I counted 72 in my bedroom...and did NOT count the Chicken Soup collection). I may need therapy....

This is how it came out:

We folded the pages and used a hot glue gun instead of the "rolling page" method.

Flowers : cut out with T!M HOLTZ tattered floral die cut  using Vagabond or Cuttle Bug....

I used the book- Once Around The Sun....... removed pages and trimmed the edges that were torn...

Supplies used: glue gun, double stick tape, stapler, book pages

We began our journey at 6:00 P.M.. Of course....we had supper, grilled steak and corn/potatoes cooked by the chief cook and bottle washer... man of the home...the wonderful Mr. Lakeland...It's so nice to have the support of your husband when crafting!  The project was complete by 9:00 P.M. Lindsay totally made this one by herself. All I did was fold the pages and cut and assemble the flowers. This is one very proud mamma...after all ......to pass on the crafting gene on to the next generation is an important aspect of crafting!

WAY TO GO - LINDSAY!

Easter Table 2013

Happy Springtime....I hope you folks were enjoying the sunshine some place today. We Floridians were basking in it the last few days. I did manage to print some items on my pinterest boards lately. The Graphic's Fairy shares images on her blog. I printed the chicks to use as place cards for table.

Our Lenox dishes have a spring-like design with asparagus fern and butterfly motif.
The yellow chick and daffodils match well.

The creamer is a find from an antique store on Prince Edward Island, Canada....camping trip with the family...circa 1997....way before blogging took over my life .......way before I began a blog. I'll have to dig up the photos from the scrapbook....another post entirely....

The table is set....we just need to cook the ham....

Enjoy your springtime!

Fire Extinguisher Planter

Bonjour Peeps! It's Springtime indeed.....everyone is out in the garden, trimming, planting and sprucing up the great outdoors. I wanted to repurpose a fire extinguisher I purchased at a g-sale several months ago. I finally decided which plant to place in the container.

Isn't she a beautiful patina specimen? She just needs a good home.....

She looks good with this spider plant growing out of the top....eh? Of course you may have noticed the mosaic watering can....it took me days to complete it and now it's so heavy with water in it you can hardly lift it.....

My front steps need some work.....my home has been one huge project for....let's say around 10 years now....soon to be completed for sure!

Enjoy your spring.....and don't forget to set your clocks back!

Tag Picture Book

I have had a request to post how to make the Tag Book I gave to several family and friends during the holidays. I began with 12 X 12 scrapbook paper. My favorite is Graphic 45. The paper is sturdy and double-sided...(pretty on both sides).
This pack came from Hobby Lobby and was 1/2 price. Now don't go rushing out to Hob Lob ....at the moment in Lakeland, they are not carrying this brand. What a bummer....I have talked to several folks at our store and requested this wonderful paper......we'll see....

Place the 12 X 12 paper on a Scor- Pal. If you use the Martha Stewart brand be careful. The scoring tool is sharp and can cut the paper very easily.  Score the paper into 3 sections at 4", 8". I also cut the 12" paper at 4 1/2(Length) . Cut a second piece of paper 2 1/2" in length and score the same....4" and 8". Place piece #2 at the bottom of piece #1. In the picture above, the first piece of paper is red print. The second piece is yellow with old typewriters. Staple the bottom and sides together using T!m Holtz stapler. You may also use the pink very sticky tape.

I prefer the staples because it is faster......

If you don't like the look of the staples on the front....use washi tape to cover the staples.

Above: washi tape music notes to cover the staples....

I also used a tag to cut the edges and a hole punch. The one above is made in 4 sections instead of 3. I like the 3 section book much better because the tags you place in the pocket hold a larger photo.

If you want 4 sections.....score at 3", 6" and 9".

Above photo: once your book is complete.....make tags to fit each compartment. This is what the photos will be attached to.

If you have any questions, email me at Lyndalhcropshop@gmail.com.
I will update this post with the completed photo of my tag book with pictures......when I locate it!
Can't quite put my hands on it right at this moment. Have you every had one of those weeks when you feel completely discombobulated?
