Canoe Trip - Hillsborough River

I found myself trying to surprise my husband with something fun at Christmas time again.....my son-in-law helped me find a canoe. We took it out for it's maiden voyage today down the Hillsborough River near Tampa. It was a lovely day on the river. My photos came out a bit dark so I lightened them using Picasso.

We drove through the strawberry fields in the next county. We are spoiled in Florida for sure.....

We have had warm weather lately and the plants think it is springtime....

We began with clear blue skies today, although it rained lightly around 9:00.  Mostly cloudy skies still made it a great day to be outside.....

Yes....the sign says "WARNING  ALLIGATORS"....

There were many....too many to count....but I filmed three in particular.....

The river was as still as glass in some places....

Logs with families of turtles....7-8 turtles....sharing with 2 small gators...

Blue Heron....

more gators....

This turtle was the only one that did not slip into the river when I got close....

2 blue kingfisher birds trying to share the same log...

It was a relaxing day floating down stream.....when we returned, I was happy we had a trolling motor for upstream travel.....we made it back in 30 minutes.....

Have you been outside to enjoy nature lately? We certainly needed a fresh air day!

Moustache Bash

Over the holidays we showered my daughter-in-love with moustaches and presents for baby Logan. It was a "mustache bash".....and a fine one I must say.

Lindsay baked some marvelous chocolate cake pops!

Oh.....boy.....presents!

The "wet your whiskers" station.....

Choice of pops, cake, cupcakes.....

Hannah, Lindsay, Mandi, and Carly pose with the staches and bow ties....

Friends and relatives came to welcome Logan.....

You'll love this tip.....above we took a glass vase and covered it with moustache duck tape purchased at Hobby Lobby. It you match the pattern, it looks better.....

Mandi pictured with the sweet table....

At the sign in table we had photos on display.......

Sperry's were popular......

We look forward to meeting Logan next month....if not sooner....
Happy Labor Day, Mandi!

Valentines Day Wreath

It's time to decorate for V-Day! Today's picture tutorial is on bow-making and decorating a wreath. I purchased the supplies in the clearance section at Hob Lob after Christmas. I knew I wanted a white wreath and pink accents this year to change it up a bit.

To get started choose your wreath and ribbon. Follow the pictures to make a bow:

I use a wire with the paper removed(garbage tie)

For the embellishments I chose a package of KC & Co Vintage Valentines. I distressed the edges with antique linen stain from T!M Holtz and attached to a tag from raspberry cardstock.

I also used black yarn for the tags, a white doily, small flowers and assorted buttons and doo-dads....

On our front door.....

I like the swans in the lake....since swans are all over Lakeland....sort of our mascot

I decoupaged the tags and the vintage valentines

On our white wall with a tad more light....

It did not film as well as it looks in person.....Does that mean I need a new camera...
Or does the operator need more photography lessons....?????

Happy V-day to you! Are you making something special for Valentines?

Now leave me a comment so I know you stopped by......
