Goodwill bargins

I can never pass up a great deal at the Goodwill store. Unfortunately it is on the other side of town, so I do not visit often. This past week I landed a great buy on a sturdy Home Interior frame. I knew it would hold my favorite picture of the Eiffel tower. The beauty of this frame is the screws that hold the back on....

I also picked up this book by Carl Sandburg.

Love the illustrations.....

The blue mat brings out the sky in this photo taken on our cruise down the Seine river in Paris.

Of course it was placed under the Paris clock....

This shelf came from Lowes....it helps me stay somewhat organized....my huge scrapbook room was in such a mess....I couldn't stand to take a pic..(I made 2 albums for folks last week...give me a break)..Maybe I'll get it cleaned up this summer....only 9 days left 'til school is out!

Paris-Eiffel Tower

Tour Eiffel/Champ-de-Mars Parc is the symbol of Paris. Built in 1889 for the Universal Exhibition, this enormous steel structure stands 1,063 feet high. From the top floor, on a clear day, you can see Paris for 40 miles.

I thought I would share a few shots of the tower we took during our Spring Break visit....
I took this shot just to show the numerous pieces....if you can draw...imagine how daunting this task would be......wonder how many nuts and bolts?
We took many night shots but this is the best one I took. One night it was raining.....so all the pics have these littles circles all over.....water on the lens....
Every night it "sparkles" on the hour.  It's a long wait in 45* weather....
We wandered across the bridge one day ( Pont D'Iena) to the Trocadero area and this was a different shot with limbs in the way....I liked the view since the base appeared larger ....

This pic was made during the river cruise....which gives you the best advantage, if you ask me, you can't see as many folks.....our river cruise began near Pont-Neuf....which I believe is the oldest bridge in Paris.
I  think this one is my favorite....I had seen a pic in the Knopf Mapguide of Paris that had a horse nearby.....I was thinking.....how did they get a shot of the carousel horse near the tower......but there is a statue of this lady on a horse nearby....you just have to  humble   lower yourself.... if you took it at the right angle....you could probably crop her out altogether....but I like the pink dress and the blue sky.
Which one is your pick?

Galvanized....

Donna, over @ Funky Junk Interiors....is hosting a party on galvanized containers.....I have always loved the primitive look....my husband and I have collected junk for years....we called them " antiques"  ....
oops....wrong photo....but this one is very nice....a view of Lakeland from the overpass of the new "bypass" through the city of lakes....This lake is Lake Mirror....and the very one that influenced my in-laws to settle in this city, instead of Clearwater....they said it was such a beautiful town with all the lakes. I agree.

This post is about GALVANIZED.....metal.....according to Webster....galvanized means to plate (metal) with zinc, originally by galvanic action-
whatever that is.....
This guy was picked up at the Mayfaire Art Fair Mother's Day Weekend....
He gets lost in the crowd.....

Oil cans and an old lantern fill the table.....
Yes...that's my husband on a horse....

I need to paint him with clear spray....of some sort....to stop the rusting process....at least that is what the artist said to do......

I think it's a bit crowded here....

aahh.....that's much better .....found an old washboard on the hearth.....
I'll put the oil cans elsewhere...

Washboards are fun to collect....this one was purchased from an artist that painted the top..... It hangs in my kitchen.....I don't know why, exactly....it should be in the laundry room....

TALK TO ME PEEPS....LEAVE ME A COMMENT.....PLEASE.....

Linking up with some awesome parties to share the galvanized love.....

Mayfair by the lake 2011

Hope you have a great Mother's Day weekend! I was up early this A.M. to take photos down by one of the lakes in Lakeland. Every Mother's Day weekend, Lakeland host the art fair of the year around Lake Morton. This is a community event with activities for children and performances by local schools.

The view above is rounding the corner by the library. The vendors are set up almost completely around the lake. Mayfaire is not a craft fair....but fine arts. There is a large variety of art and mixed media. I did not take close ups....as most vendors prohibit photography of their artwork...
but this fair is certainly worth the time ....tremendous talent.....such a blessing!

So I just took pics of the ducks swimming and fighting in the lake. They were quite entertaining today....as if they knew they had an audience.... this is a pair of the black swans....the one in the front is drinking water.....such a process of squiggling the neck to get it down.....
I know we like our drive-up window....fast food....here is a swim-up window for swan food....

How about the black feet on this swan....I mean.....this one had a mean look.....so I didn't get too close...

I parked at Hollis Gardens (off of Lake Mirror) and as I was walking down the sidewalk....this was hanging over the fence....I thought it was a lamp or something....bananas? Are you kidding me?

If you ever get to Florida, be sure and schedule time to drive through Lakeland.....and see all the superb lakes.....and art around the town.....even more than seven swans a swimming....

Enjoy your weekend!

Vintage white

WHITE

How do I love thee?  Let me count the ways....

I love thee in the spring....when you bloom ...and bring such a wonderful fragrance to my world...

I love thee when you announce the risen Savior of the world....

I love thee when you flake.....and peel from old pottery chickens....

I love you when you stripe our flag ....

White is a symbol of purity....

The fresh snow falls softly to clean up fall.......(not in Florida, often)

White....you make the roses pop on vintage china....

Happy Mother's Day!
